The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has come out with an online business registration schedule for taxpayers' convenience and in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The contactless transaction schedule can be accessed at the agency's newly developed digital system called the new business registration (NewBizReg) portal on https://business.gov.ph.

"It is an alternative option for taxpayers to safely and conveniently submit their registration application to concerned revenue district office (RDO)," said Revenue Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay.

The BIR chief said the service is available to individual and business taxpayers, including corporations, partnerships, single proprietors, cooperatives, professionals, and mixed income earners.

To register with the NewBizReg, Dulay said, " The taxpayer shall email his application together with the complete documentary requirements including the payment of P500 registration fee and P30 documentary stamp tax through the electronic payment channels of the bureau."

According to Deputy Commissioner for Information Technology Lanee Cui-David, the applicant is required to download and answer a questionnaire. She said the information shall be included as an attachment to the application.

David said the concerned RDO will process the application within three working days from the date of the acknowledgement of receipt.

The taxpayer will be informed when to pick up the registration certificate and the authority to print receipt, or invoice.
