Converge elects Board of Directors

Fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. elected its board members, led by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Jose P. de Jesus as Chairman and Independent Director, during last week's Annual Stockholders’ Meeting.

Former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr., one of the world’s best central bankers and awardee of Japan's “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star”, was elected as Independent Director.

Reyes Tacandong & Co. Founding Partner and Chairman Roman Felipe S. Reyes, previously Senior Partner at SGV & Co., was also Independent Director.

The Non-Executive Directors include Atty. Francis Ed. Lim, ACCRA Law senior partner and former President and CEO of the Philippine Stock Exchange, along with Saurabh N. Agarwal, partner at global private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC, which holds a 15.8% stake in Converge through Coherent Cloud Investments BV.

Founders and Executive Directors of the company make up the rest of the board - Dennis Anthony H. Uy, who is also the CEO, and Maria Grace Y. Uy, President and Chief Resources Officer.

Trained as an electrical engineer, the CEO started out with a betamax rental shop in Angeles City, Pampanga.

He set up his own cable TV company, right after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, foreseeing the demise of betamax, VHS, and Blue Ray discs.

Eventually, he ventured into fiber optics and then fiber broadband.

The President, Maria Grace Uy was 16th placer in the 1989 Certified Public Accountants Licensure Board Examinations, with an Accounting degree from the De La Salle University.

She started her career with IBM Philippines and held managerial roles in accounting and finance.

She also served as CFO and EVP of ComClark Network and Technology Corp and the Angeles City Cable Television Network, as well as CFO and VP at the Savers Mall Group of Companies.

"Converge's Board has a diverse membership, with the right mix of capabilities, perspectives and experience that will ensure the highest standards of governance," noted Chairman de Jesus.
