PH Red Cross assists individuals affected by Laguna fire
Volunteers of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) promptly responded to over 150 individuals affected by the fire incident in San Pedro, Laguna.

In a statement issued Tuesday, June 28, PRC said that it was able to dispatch two ambulances manned by four volunteers and four staff to a fire in Brgy. San Antonio, San Pedro, Laguna on June 28.
PRC said that the the “3 alarm blaze, which started around 6 p.m. damaged four industrial and commercial buildings and affected around 150 individuals.” The fire was declared out around 8:30 p.m.
Having over a hundred chapters nationwide, PRC noted that it was able to respond to such incidents faster and more efficiently.
“It is our goal to have the Red Cross in every corner of the country,” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon. “This will greatly help in times of disaster and make life-saving interventions get there in time where it is most needed,” he added.
Gordon said that PRC’s Operations Center is open 24/7 and “this makes the quick dispatch of fire trucks and ambulances possible.” “Kung saan may malapit na para pwede pumunta, yun ang tatawagan upang makapagpadala ng tulong (The nearest one available would be called to send help),” Gordon said, explaining further the PRC’s network of chapters and how response is made faster.
The teams of PRC also assessed the damage and provided hot meals to affected individuals. Since January this year, the humanitarian organization has provided assistance in more than a hundred fire incidents.
