DSWD gives 827 centenarians P100,000 cash gift each
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday, June 29, said that a total of 827 centenarians have received P100,000 incentive each as mandated by the Centenarians Act of 2016.

Citing data of May 2021, DSWD said that it has served 827 centenarians out of 1,319 target beneficiaries for the current year - with P82.7 million amount already disbursed.
DSWD noted that the field offices in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and X (Northern Mindanao) have “already completed the distribution” of the centenarian incentive for their target beneficiaries numbering to 135 and 25, respectively.
The DSWD continues to provide the centenarians with the P100,000 incentive as mandated by Republic Act (RA) 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016 in honor of their contributions to nation building.
“Under the law, aside from the centenarian incentive, Filipinos who have reached 100 years old and above, whether residing in the country or abroad shall be honored with a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating them for their longevity,” DSWD said.
In order to avail of the benefits under the law, DSWD said that relatives of the centenarians must submit primary documents such as birth certificate and Philippine passport to the city or municipal social welfare office and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in their localities.
DSWD reminded that if the two documents are not available, any one of the primary Identification Cards issued by OSCA, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), and Social Security System (SSS); driver’s license; Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license; and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Voter’s ID, is also accepted.
As part of its efforts to ensure health and safety of the beneficiaries especially during the pandemic, the DSWD is distributing the centenarian incentive through a house-to-house delivery scheme.
