2,442 individuals charged as health and safety protocol violations rise

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) noted an increase in various violations of health and safety protocols recorded from June 21 to 27.

In his report, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said 51,012 individuals were found to have violated the face mask regulations, 598 mass gathering incidents were recorded and 18,617 people failed to follow the physical distancing rule.

“Sa kabuuan po, 2,442 ang ating kinasuhan through inquest at regular filing (In totality, 2,442 individuals were charged through inquest proceedings and regular filing),’’ Año reported to President Duterte during Monday night's regular Talk to the Nation.

Año also noted that two recent mass gathering incidents are currently being investigated, one in the June 19 street party in Barangay Cinco, Caluag, Quezon and the boxing match held on June 21 in Barangay 38, Zone 2, Tondo, Manila.

In the government’s illegal drugs campaign, Año said the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other anti-narcotics agencies conducted 1,322 operations from June 20 to 26 with 1,721 arrests made and 11 fatalities.

In the various anti-narcotics operations, Año disclosed that more than six kilos of shabu and 160 kilos of marijuana were seized worth P62,502,704.

“Kung titingnan po natin sa mga nakaraang data ay nakikita natin na napapakaunti natin ang supply ( of illegal drugs) sa lansangan at ibig sabihin po nito ay magandang development kahit po patuloy pa rin ang numerong operasyon na ating ginagawa (If we analyze the previous data we can see the decreasing supply on the streets which means a good development despite the number of operations we are conducting),’’ he added.
