Pasay mayor reminds residents not to be complacent on decreasing active COVID-19 cases

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano reminded residents not to be complacent on the decreasing number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city.

She said people should bear in mind that there are still emerging threats such as the Delta variant.

Pasay residents are still expected to adhere to the public minimum health standards like the required wearing of face masks at all times, wearing of face shields and observing physical distancing protocols, the mayor added.

Rubiano has coordinated with the national government in strictly monitoring arriving “balikbayans” and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who may be carriers of the Delta variant.

The seesawing number of cases in the city, she said, is also another factor to be considered by residents not to be complacent in following health protocols.

On June 27, the City Health Office reported that 171 out of its 201 barangays have no cases of COVID-19.

The city's active cases are down to 57 out of 14,526 total confirmed infections, including 14,079 recoveries and 309 deaths.

Latest data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed positivity rate is at 12.06 percent.

The city government placed 20 houses under localized enhanced community quarantine (LECQ) to further contain local transmission of the virus.

The mayor also said the city government continues to provide regular assistance like food items and vitamins to affected residents.
