Metro Manila's average daily COVID-19 cases down by 9%-- OCTA Research

The number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila has gone down by 9 percent, as it average 667 new cases during the June 21-27 period from 731 cases per day on June 14-20, OCTA Research said in its report on Monday, June 28.
This corresponds to an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 4.83 cases per 100,000 population, classifying Metro Manila as a "moderate-low" risk area for COVID-19 infections.
The positivity rate in Metro Manila remained at 7 percent over the past week, but healthcare utilization rates are considered within "safe levels."
OCTA said that Metro Manila's hospital bed occupancy is at 36 percent, ICU bed occupancy at 45 percent, and mechanical ventilator occupancy at 32 percent.
The research group pointed out that Navotas, San Juan, and Pateros had the fewest number of new COVID-19 cases per day with less than 10 per day.
Navotas also had the lowest ADAR.
Caloocan, Marikina, Malabon, Valenzuela, Quezon City, and Manila also had an ADAR below five per 100,000, which classifies these areas as "moderate-low risk."
The other local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila are considered moderate risk areas, with an ADAR between five and 10 per 100,000.
Outside of Metro Manila, OCTA noted that "the increasing trends have slowed down and many LGUs showed one-week negative growth rates, including Bacolod, Iloilo City, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio City, Tacloban, Tagum, and Zamboanga City.
However, the hospital bed utilization rate (HBUR) remains "critical" at above 85 percent in Tacloban, while HBUR was "high" or greater than 70 percent in Davao City, Iloilo City, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, and Baguio City.
ICU utilization rates (ICUR) were also at critical levels in Davao City, Iloilo City, General Santos, Koronadal, and Cabuyao, while ICUR were at high levels in Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio City, Tacloban, Tagum, Zamboanga City, and Batangas City.
