Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay has confirmed that the viral video of a nurse forgetting to administer the COVID-19 vaccine was taken at a vaccination site in Makati City, but assured that the "human error" was immediately corrected.

“We acknowledge the video. It was human error on the part of the volunteer nurse. Volunteer po siya na nurse. That was immediately corrected,” she said during a Laging Handa briefing on Monday (June 28).

Binay said that the incident recorded on video happened on June 25, and was corrected the next day June 26 when the individual in the video went to them and showed the video.

“Nakita naman po na hindi ho nga siya nabakunahan kung kaya’t binigyan siya agad ng bakuna (As seen on the video, she was not vaccinated so we immediately inoculated her). So we simply ask for understanding from the public. Mahigit isang taon na pong naghihirap at nagtratrabaho ang ating frontliners para ho labanan ang pandemya na ito (Our frontliners have been struggling and working for more than a year to fight this pandemic),” the mayor appealed.

The mayor also asked those who have been bashing the volunteer nurse to stop hurling criticisms.

According to Binay, some of her political rivals are very happy with what happened and some of them are using the video to discredit her and the vaccination program of the city.

“Pero hindi po nila nakikita na ang vaccination rollout ng buong Pilipinas ang maapektuhan kung sisirain nila ang kredibilidad ng vaccination natin (But what they don’t see is that the vaccination rollout of the whole Philippines will be affected if they destroy the credibility of our vaccination),” she said.

Binay said frontliners are also humans and they may also commit mistakes.

“Maawa naman po kayo sa nurse na nagkusang loob na mag-volunteer ng kanyang oras para lang po magsilbi lang sa ating mga kababayan (Have pity on the nurse who selflessly volunteered her time just to serve our countrymen).”

“At humihingi po siya at kami ng patawad, at nagbibigay din po kami ng assurance na hindi na po ito mangyayaring muli (We are apologizing for what happened, and we assure you that such incident will never happen again),” she added.

On the viral video circulating on social media, a woman was injected by a nurse but she forgot to push the content of the syringe into her arm.
