Two men initially questioned for not wearing face masks were arrested after police found in their possession some P9.18 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Taguig Sunday.
Taguig police said the suspects, Jaime Nepacina and Eskak Kamsa, were nabbed at about 4:30 p.m. on Road 16 in Purok 2 Maguindanao St., Brgy. New Lower Bicutan.
A team led by Police Major Crisanto Agualin, Sub-station 9 commander, was conducting “Oplan Galugad” when they saw the suspects not wearing face masks, a violation of a Taguig ordinance.
As part of the standard operating procedure, police officers conducted a body search on the suspects.
Seized from the two suspects were 27 plastic sachets containing 1.35 kilos of shabu with an estimated value of P9.18 million, P10,000 cash, a weighing scale, and a cell phone.
The suspects were brought to the Taguig City Police Station custodial facility and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Acts of 2002.
Southern Police District (SPD) director Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg commended the Taguig Police headed by Police Col. Celso Rodriguez for the arrest of the suspects.
“The Southern Police District is not stopping in its operations against illegal drugs,” said Macaraeg.
