'Eye opener, inspiring': DSWD to launch coffee table book on community resilience
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will launch on Tuesday, June 29, its coffee table book that highlights community resilience amid disasters and calamities.

“The DSWD, through the Disaster Response Management Bureau, is inviting everyone to the digital launch of the Risk Resiliency Program Coffee Table Book this 29th of June,” read the agency’s Facebook post on Monday, June 28.
The social welfare department said the public can download the book starting tomorrow, June 29.
“The book, which compiles stories of eye-opening and inspiring actions of empowered communities to fight climate change, will be available to everyone for download starting the launch date,” it said.
The DSWD had vowed to continue implementing programs that would strengthen community resilience to lessen the damages brought by climate change-induced disasters and calamities.
One of its programs seeking to mitigate the impacts of climate change is the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).
Using the community-driven development (CDD) strategy, KALAHI-CIDSS allows communities to gain control over decisions and resources.
“Through the program, community members actively participate to identify and prioritize their community’s concerns and allow them to design, implement, and manage solutions to their priority problems,” the DSWD said.
