DOH identifies regions with most number of new COVID-19 cases
The Department of Health (DOH) has identified the top regions with the most number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

In a meeting with President Duterte on Monday, June 28, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III identified these regions as Region 4A (Calabarzon) with 757 cases, followed by Region 6 (Western Visayas) with 674 cases, Metro Manila with 657 cases, Region 11 (Davao) with 547 cases, and Region 3 (Central Luzon) with 423 cases.
He said the top areas are Laguna with 307 cases, Davao City with 300 cases, Cavite with 209 cases, Iloilo 181 cases and Negros Occidental with 144 cases.
Comparing the case trend last year, he said in the National Capital Region (NCR)-plus areas, and Visayas, peak of trend were two times higher this year than last year.
Duque added that while the rest of Luzon and Mindanao is four times higher this year compared to last year.
The DOH on Monday reported 5,604 new COVID-19 cases. This brought the total number of cases nationwide to 1,403,588.
The June 28 case bulletin of DOH also showed 6,154 new recoveries and 84 new deaths.
