Another two underaged OFWs bound for Middle East caught

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has caught another two underaged overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) bound for Saudi Arabia at the Clark International Aiport in Pampanga.

The interception of the duo came after three other minor OFWs were barred by Clark immigration officers from boarding a plane going to the Middle East a few weeks ago.

Hailing from Cotabato, the latest two human trafficking victims claimed they were 26 and 27 years of age during an interview by immigration officers. But they admitted later during another round of interviews that they were actually below 20 years old.

They further admitted that the fake travel papers that they carried had been supplied to them by their recruiter.

The minimum age requirement for house service workers in the Middle East is 23.

"These heartless human traffickers continue their nefarious trade despite the pandemic, but we will not stop neutralizing them," said BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
