The Taguig City government aims to finish vaccinating its target population of 680,000 by October as it vows to ramp up its daily output next month.

This was revealed by Mayor Lino Cayetano during the visit in Taguig of health experts from Israel recently.

Cayetano said the city has committed to vaccinate 56,800 individuals per week or an average of about 8,000 per day in order to reach the goal of inoculating 70 percent of the population and achieve herd immunity.

Taguig’s target next month is to vaccinate 70,000 individuals per week “so that we can finish by October,” said the mayor.

“Once we finish in October, the City of Taguig, like many NCR LGUs , will be open to the rest of the country to help,” he said.

The Israel health experts visited the Lakeshore Vaccine Training and Information Center Mega Vaccination Hub in Taguig.

They explained how they developed and managed their data management, their knowledge on cold chain and logistics management, and their expertise on the actual deployment of the vaccines.

Adam Segal, logistics and operations manager of Salomon Levin & Elstein of Israel, commended Taguig for professionalism.

"I would like to congratulate Mayor Cayetano and the team here with the level of professionalism we saw in this vaccination center. It definitely adds confidence to whoever will come here and get the vaccine. This is the level we should take around in the other city. I was very impressed by the high level of professionalism and the knowledge of the right way to handle the vaccines," he said

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, who also visited the city, said "Taguig vaccination is a model and worthy of emulation by other LGUs not just in NCR but throughout the Philippines.”

As of June 23, 210,122 residents and workers in Taguig who are part of the A1, A2, A3, and A4 categories have already been vaccinated.
