Scattered rain showers likely over Ilocos Region, Batanes due to 'habagat'

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands in the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of the southwest monsoon or "habagat."
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, June 26, advised those in these areas to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the tropical cyclone with an international name "Champi" has remained outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning.
As of 3 a.m., Champi was estimated at 1,835 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
It was moving north towards Japan at a speed of 20 kph.
PAGASA said the typhoon has a slim chance of entering the PAR and may not have a direct effect over the country in the next few days.
