PH Science High School to implement remote learning until end of 2021 — DOST chief

The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System will continue implementing remote learning in its 16 campuses nationwide until the end of this year to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among students and teachers.

This was announced by DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña, who chairs the PSHS System’s Board of Trustees (BOT), during his weekly report on Friday, June 25.

“The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) System will still use remote learning as mode of instructional delivery in its 16 campuses nationwide,” he announced on DOSTv Facebook page on Friday.

He said the decision was arrived at "as the nation works out to attain herd immunity by December 2021 through vaccination.”

“Other reasons for remote learning continuity include feedback from parents, the relatively big number of parents who are not willing to let their children to be confined in the dorm, and lack of resources for testing,” the DOST chief said.

De la Peña assured the public that the PSHS system strives to guarantee quality and modernity through frequent updates in its PSHS Knowledge Hub.

“The 16 Pisay campuses demonstrate its usefulness at a challenging time like the COVID-19 pandemic to offers full flexibility to approach content as preferred by students and to save time which usually translates into comfort and more satisfying learning experiences,” he said.
