PH Red Cross remains committed to help gov't give more jabs vs COVID-19

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reiterated its commitment to help the government in the rollout of its vaccination program against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“We have been the government’s ally when it comes to vaccination and we will continue to do so since the Philippine Red Cross has the manpower, the resources, and the commitment to provide this much needed protection against this invisible enemy that is the COVID19 virus,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon said in a statement.

On June 24, Gordon said that 10,000 additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines were handed over by the Department of Health (DoH) to the PRC.

These additional doses, the PRC said, is part of the humanitarian organization’s efforts to pump up its vaccination efforts to complement the government’s on-going campaign.

PRC has previously provided substantial support in DoH campaigns against polio and measles-rubella.

It partnered with institutions like the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and listed medical students from top universities in the country as volunteers.

To date, the PRC has also opened a total of six “Bakuna Centers” in National Capital Region. These vaccination centers are located at the PRC molecular laboratory in Mandaluyong; PRC Port Area, Manila; Kabaka Compound, Pandacan, Manila; San Lorenzo, Makati; Arcovia City, Pasig; and a recent addition in PRC Pasay City Chapter.

PRC said that its “Bakuna Centers” are lauded for being “efficient, uncrowded, and faithful to health protocols to circumvent infection.”

Meanwhile, PRC assured that it will strengthen its vaccination efforts. The PRC has thousands of volunteers and staff who have been trained to do vaccinations - equally emphasizing their safety by following a guided protocol.
