PH Red Cross honors former President Aquino's 'dedication to public service, steward leadership'
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Saturday, June 26, paid tribute to former President Benigno Aquino III as the country mourns the loss of its past president.

PRC said that it “joins all the Filipinos reeling with the sudden demise” of Aquino who died on June 24 due “renal disease secondary to diabetes” according to his family. He was 61 years old.
During the Red Cross Board of Governors meeting held this week, a resolution was also passed honoring the legacy of the former head of state. It also expressed the PRC's admiration for his “dedication to public service and steward leadership.”
The PRC leadership, staff and volunteers also wished to convey their “sincerest sympathy” to the bereaved family members of the late president.
Senator Richard Gordon, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PRC, also acknowledged the exemplary deeds of Aquino.
“President Aquino and I may not have agreed on some issues, but we both have the same dream of making our country great and believe that as a nation, we should assert and defend our sovereignty over what is rightfully ours,” Gordon said.
In a tweet after news of Aquino's death was confirmed, Gordon said: “I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of my former colleague in the Senate, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, this morning. He can now peacefully rest in the arms of our Creator.”
Aquino was laid to rest at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque on June 26 beside his parents, former President Corazon Aquino and former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
