DICT warns against posers soliciting for donations

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has warned anew against persons representing themselves as DICT officials and personnel to ask for donations from private companies.

“We have received several reports that certain individuals representing themselves as officials and personnel of DICT have been soliciting donations from private companies,” the agency said in an advisory Friday, June 25.

“The same scheme was also reportedly used to impersonate officials from other government agencies,” it added.

According to the department, the individuals used the mobile number +639632779623 in their scheme “which is not associated with any DICT official or personnel as per official records.”

“Let it be known that these persons are neither affiliated nor authorized to represent the DICT,” the agency said.

“We urge the general public to be vigilant and report suspicious transactions and unscrupulous activities to [email protected],” it added.
