
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded a magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Surigao del Sur on Saturday evening, June 26.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred around 11:07 p.m. and traced its epicenter at 72 kilometers northeast of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
It was shallow at a depth of 23 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the tremor was felt as a "weak" shaking at Intensity III in Bislig City.
The quake was tectonic in origin, which means the tremor was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
Phivolcs was not expecting damage to property. Aftershocks were also unlikely to occur.
