Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded on Saturday, June 26, two policewomen in Capiz who helped in giving birth to a woman in Dumalag town.
He was referring to Police Corporal Mary Joy Fusin, a registered nurse, and Police Staff Sergeant Maybelle Legario, both personnel of the Dumalag Municipal Police Station, helped town resident Tirisa Bindol to give birth.

"I salute our two police officers who did not think twice in helping the Bindol couple. We have plenty of police officers who are always ready to help in times of need," said Eleazar.
"Despite all the challenges that we face in the organization, there are still plenty in our ranks who are ready to show kindness and dedication to service," he added.

Bindol and her husband were already on their way to the Dao District Hospital to have their baby when the expectant mother felt severe labor pains, indicating she was very close to giving birth. Her husband immediately sought assistance from police officers at the Dumalag Municipal Police Station.
Seeing the distressed couple, Fusin and Legario immediately responded and helped deliver Bindol’s baby. After the delivery, the infant was immediately brought to the Dumalag Health Center.
Eleazar assured that due recognition will be given to the two police officers.
He also urge other police officers to do acts of kindness and genuine public service similar to that done by Fusin and Legario.
