'Strawberry' full moon dazzles the night sky -- NASA

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said the "Strawberry Moon" or the last full moon of spring or first full moon of summer will light up the night skies this week.

"The name however doesn’t necessarily imply the Moon is red, though it does appear a reddish color when rising or setting," the NASA said in its website.

"The moon will appear full or about three days from early Wednesday morning through early Saturday morning," it said.

This year, the Strawberry Moon will be closer and larger than an average full moon, which is called a "super moon."

The Philippine Atmopheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the full moon on June 23 had a perigee distance of 35,959 kilometers away from Earth.
