Senator Nancy Binay admitted she is more inclined to consider forming an alliance with the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) than she is with the Liberal Party in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

Binay explained she already had experienced working before with the NPC led by Senate President Vicente Sotto III and is more comfortable dealing with a political party that espouses a neutral stand in issues.

"We are not administration, neither are we opposition. But you know, at the end of the day, when we want to work for what is going to be best for our people, we go to that line. If there are policies of the administration that we think works for the people, we will agree with them," Binay said in a recent interview.

"And then if we see something wrong, we criticize that specific issue," she said.

That is why, she said, she is open to exploring an alliance with Sotto's party which shares her political views.

"I guess that is an option together with other parties. I think its easier to work with the other parties for me compared to the Liberal Party," she said.

"Because during the past elections, we've done a collaboration with NPC. In fact, when I ran in 2019, I was part of the slate that was endorsed by Senate President," she recalled.

Binay reiterated she is not ready to take on the 1Sambayan or the Liberal Party's offer of an alliance because of the "wounds" she and her family incurred during the 2016 elections, despite Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan already reaching out to her.

"I guess after the 2016 experience, I became more protective of my family," she pointed out.

"How can we talk about healing when some of them in their party couldn’t move forward yet," she said.

"So ako, I’m more than ready to work together especially if it will help our country, but it seems there are still some members of their party who cannot move on," she pointed out.
