Nation bids goodbye to former President Noynoy Aquino, funeral mass set on June 26

A funeral mass for the former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will be held at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) in Quezon City on Saturday, June 26, the university announced, as the country bids goodbye to country's 15th president.

“The funeral Mass for the former President will be held at the Church of the Gesù, at the Ateneo de Manila University's Loyola Heights campus in Quezon City, at 10 a.m.,” the Ateneo said in a statement Friday, June 25.

The mass will be streamed live on the Ateneo de Manila University Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as on Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM.

After the funeral mass, the urn bearing the former president’s cremated remains will be brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City for inurnment.

“There will be no more public viewing at the Church of the Gesu on Saturday. Therefore, we request members of the public not to come to the Ateneo de Manila campus anymore once the public viewing ends at 10 p.m. Friday,” it said.

“Instead, you may proceed directly to the Manila Memorial Park, where the public will be allowed to pay their respects starting at around 3 p.m.,” it added.

The urn containing the ashes of the Aquino arrived at the Church of Gesu inside the university campus on Friday for the one-day public viewing.

“Farewell, Noy. Thank you for your service to the nation, and may you rest in peace,” the Ateneo said.
