LOOK: PH flags in all Ateneo campuses at half-mast to mourn Noynoy Aquino's death

The Philippine flags inside the campuses of the Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) were seen flying at half-mast on Friday, June 24, as the university mourns the death of alumnus and former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Photos posted on ADMU official Facebook page showed that Philippine flags at the university’s Xavier Hall, Loyola Heights campus, Rockwell, Salcedo, Pasig, Grade School, and High School complex were at half-staff.

“Philippine flags in all Ateneo de Manila campuses are flying at half-mast in observance of the period of national mourning for former President Benigno Aquino III,” the university said.

The cremated remains of the country’s 15th president, who died on Thursday, June 24, due to renal failure as a result of diabetes, arrived at the university’s Church of Gesu for a one-day public viewing.

Aquino completed his elementary, high school, and college education at the Ateneo. He finished his tertiary education with a degree in Economics in 1981.

“The Ateneo De Manila is very honored and privileged to welcome home our illustrious son, Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III,” ADMU President Fr. Roberto Yap said during the blessing of the late president’s ashes.

“Noynoy spent many happy years in the Ateneo, in this very campus, since grade school, high school and for college. And we are very proud to say that somehow we had an influence in his life, forming him as we try to form all our students into men and women for others,” he added.
