Amid surge in Mindanao: PCG brings COVID-19 vaccines to far-flung Tawi-Tawi
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has transported 3,000 vials of Chinese-made Sinovac vaccines in the far-flung town of Mapun, Tawi-Tawi to inoculate the residents against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), it said Friday, June 25.

The PCG delivered the life-saving jabs aboard its ship, BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401), in cooperation with 55 medical workers of Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) last Wednesday, June 23, amid the surge of cases in Mindanao.
On June 24, at least 800 residents including healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with co-morbidities were vaccinated with their first dose, the IPHO said.

The PCG personnel have also transported medical supplies for medical frontliners in Tawi-Tawi.
Apart from the PCG’s third maritime drills that started on Monday, June 21, they also conducted humanitarian activities for the residents and fishermen in the area.
