PHL Post, Manila unveil commemorative stamps to mark city's 450th founding anniversary

The local government of Manila and Philippine Postal (PHL Post) Corporation unveiled two commemorative stamps to mark the 450th founding anniversary of the city on June 24.

The two stamps were launched at the PHL Post office in Liwasang Bonifacio.

Present in the event were Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, and Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio.

The first stamp features the renovated Jones Bridge that symbolizes the “emergence of the old city to meet the challenges of modern-day and keep up with the changing times.”

The second stamp features the iconic clock tower of the Manila City hall which is the “epicenter of the day-to-day undertaking of the city administration.”

Postmaster General Fulgencio, in his speech, said the commemorative stamps are a sign of the post office’s commitment to helping the local government develop arts and culture in the city.

Fulgencio also thanked Domagoso for transforming Manila into a clean and green place.

“Mayor Isko has accomplished his mission to bring back Manila’s old glory,” he said.

Aside from the unveiling of the stamps, PHL Post also handed over the post office building conservation management plan to the local government of Manila.
