Former Pres. PNoy dedicated the best years of his life to the country -- Mayor Abby

Makati City Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay said former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III dedicated the best years of his life to the country.

Binay issued the statement following the demise of the former president at a hospital in Quezon City on Thursday (June 24, 2021).

In a Facebook post, Binay said Filipinos are grateful to the former president for spending the best years of his life serving the country.

“I am saddened by the news of former president Noynoy Aquino's death. He has dedicated the best years of his life to the country and to public service, and for this we are grateful,” she said.

The Makati City mayor also sent her condolences to the Aquino family.

“My most heartfelt condolences to the Aquino family, with whom our family has shared a deep bond that goes back to the time former president Cory, who was my ninang (godmother) at my wedding, brought in my dad as part of her campaign security during the 1986 snap elections. Rest in peace, Pnoy.”

Aquino was the 15th president of the country who championed the “Daang Matuwid” campaign, and scored a landmark ruling against China’s aggressive claims in the West Philippine Sea.

The former president passed away at the age of 61.
