Cardinal Advincula asks for prayers for eternal repose of former President Aquino's soul

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula has asked for prayers for former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III who died Thursday, June 24.

"We have been informed of the sad news of the passing away of our former president of the Republic of the Philippines President Benigno Aquino III," he said in a Mass at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros where he was formally installed as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila.

"Let us entrust him to the mercy of our loving father and let us now pray for the eternal repose of his soul," added Advincula.

"Eternal rest grant into him o lord and let perpetual line shine upon him. may he rest in peace. amen. may souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen," he said.

Aquino, who served as the country’s 15th president from 2010 to 2016, died at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.
