Authorities to investigate ammonia leak in Caloocan cold storage facility

Authorities are looking into the reported ammonia leak that occurred in a cold storage facility in Barangay Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City Wednesday night.

Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said the leak was traced to a secondary valve on the second floor of the 3-storey Orca Cold Solution.

Authorities said the guard who saw the smoke on the second floor thought the facility caught fire and called for responders.

ABS-CBN, in its report, said the BFP Caloocan’s Safety Enforcement Unit will conduct an inspection on the facility to identify the cause of the leak.

No one was reported hurt from the incident but residents in the area reported noticing a distinct smell coming from the cold storage.
