No low pressure area or tropical cyclone is expected to enter or form inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next three to five days, a weather forecaster said on Wednesday, June 23.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the southwest monsoon or "habagat" remains the dominant weather system across the country.

In the next 24 hours, the habagat may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Bataan, Zambales, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

Perez said monsoon rains may continue to affect the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon in the next three to five days.

The active tropical cyclone being monitored by PAGASA remains outside the PAR as of Wednesday afternoon.

As of 3 p.m., the tropical storm with international name "Champi" was estimated at 2,050 kilometers east of Central Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is moving northward at 30 kph.

Perez noted that the tropical cyclone is more likely to remain outside the PAR and is not expected to affect any part of the country in the next few days.

No gale warning is in place as slight to moderate conditions may prevail over the seas across the rest of the country.

While no gale warning is in effect, Perez still advised seafarers and fisherfolk to remain alert during offshore thunderstorms as sea conditions may become rough.
