iQiyi's Original K-drama 'Jirisan' with Jun Ji-hyun, Ju Ji-hoon completes filming

The Korean drama “Jirisan” (aka “Cliffhanger”), this year’s highly-anticipated action-adventure mystery thriller starring actress Jun Ji-hyun and actor Ju Ji-hoon, officially wrapped up filming on June 21.

“Jirisan” is an iQiyi original and exclusive K-drama that is directed by Lee Eung-bok, who helmed “Mr. Sunshine” and written by Kim Eun-hee, who was behind “Kingdom” and “Signal.” The drama was completed after ten months of filming, which started in September 2020.

In the series, Ju Ji-hoon and Jun Ji-hyun play national park rangers protecting the people around Mt. Jirisan until they unveil mysteries and unknown secrets surrounding the park.

Ju Ji-hoon’s recent Instagram post signaled the last phase of filming with “climbing down from Jirisan” as the caption with a photo of him wearing a black shirt with the cast of the series printed at the back of his shirt.

The cast also includes Sung Dong-il of the popular dramas “Reply 1988,” “Reply 1994” and “Reply 1997,” and Oh Jung-se of “ It's Okay to Not Be Okay.”

To celebrate the last day of filming and express gratitude to the cast and crew, iQiyi delivered a food truck to the set.

“Jirisan” was chosen as one of the most anticipated Korean dramas on OTT (over-the-top) video streaming service in 2021.

The survey, published by Cine21, was conducted among 55 key players in the Korean entertainment industry including CEOs of drama and film production companies, and representatives from entertainment agencies to select the dramas and movies to watch this year.

Jun Ji-hyun is one of the most popular Korean actresses, known for the dramas “My Love from the Star” and “Legend of the Blue Sea.”
