Hundreds of children received books, pairs of slippers in Tawi-Tawi
Members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have distributed books and pairs of slippers for hundreds of children in Tawi-Tawi on Tuesday, June 22, while conducting maritime exercises in the area.
Personnel of the PCG’s BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) and Coast Guard Public Affairs, in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), have launched the “Book Giving Project” at Jade’s Bajao Learning Center in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.


Aside from the new books received, they also received new pairs of slippers from the Coast Guard personnel.
“Liban sa mga bagong libro, namahagi rin ng mga bagong pares ng tsinelas sa mga kabataang nagtitiyaga sa lumang pansapin sa paa na kanilang ginagamit sa araw-araw (In addition to the new books, new pairs of slippers were distributed to the young people who persevere in the old footwear they use on a daily basis),” the PCG said.


The PCG started on Monday, June 21, the third phase of their maritime drills, which zero in on anti-piracy and anti-terrorism in Mindanao to strengthen the maritime law enforcement within the region.
Members of the Coast Guard Special Operations Force were deployed in the region with four ships and three helicopters.
