Expect rain showers and thunderstorms over some parts of western Luzon and Western Visayas in the next 24 hours due to the continuous effect of southwest monsoon or "habagat" over the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, June 22, that scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Cavite, Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, moderate to rough sea conditions will prevail over the coasts of northern and western sections of Luzon, while slight to moderate conditions may prevail over the seas across the rest of the country.

While no gale warning is in effect, PAGASA still advised seafarers and fisherfolk to remain alert during severe thunderstorms as sea conditions may become rough.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression spotted east of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) was estimated at 2,460 kilometers east of Southern Luzon as of 3 a.m.

Weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the weather disturbance has a slim chance of entering the PAR and has no direct effect on the country as of Tuesday.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph. It was moving north-northeast at 25 kph.
