Coast Guard conducts firearm familiarization exercise in Southern Mindanao


Members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) elite Special Operations Force conducted firearm familiarization exercises in Southern Mindanao on Monday, June 21.

Personnel of the BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) have also joined the activity as part of the Task Force “Pagsasanay,” a unit formed by the PCG to train its personnel on navigation in restricted bodies of water.

Members of the PCG Special Operations Force were deployed in Basilan, Sulu, and Jolo waters with four ships and three helicopters as part of its third phase maritime drills.

The Coast Guard said the activity was part of the week-long anti-terrorism and anti-piracy training in Mindanao to strengthen the maritime law enforcement within the region.
