2,250 face mask and physical distancing regulation violators charged- Año

A total of 2,250 individuals are now facing charges for violation of the face mask and physical distancing regulations from June 14 to 20, amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said Monday night, June 21.

In a briefing with President Duterte, Año reported that there were no new cases on the ban on mass gatherings or ‘super spreader events’’ this week, describing it as a good sign that more individuals are adhering to the President’s order.

But, Año noted that the DILG has been relentless in looking into reports of violations pertaining to physical distancing regulations.

In the COVID-19 vaccination process, Año commended Quezon City for having given the first COVID-19 jabs to 414,850 individuals and to Manila 326,101 for having done the same thing.

He added that Caloocan City also had administered the first COVID-19 inoculation to 238,768 individuals.

In Parañaque City, Año reported that 79,111 individuals were injected with the second COVID-19 dose.

In some LGUs outside Metro Manila, Año said Baguio City has given the first COVID-19 dose to 99,745 people while 46,157 individuals already received the second injection in Cebu City.

In terms of the illegal drug campaign, Año noted that the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other anti-narcotics agencies collared 1,547 drug personalities in 1,228 operations with 10 being killed including the “very notorious’’ drug lord Montasir Sabal who was a former mayor of Talitay, Maguindanao.

The DILG chief revealed that P121,151,138 worth of shabu and marijuana were seized by the anti-narcotics operatives during the said period.
