The heartthrob singer took to social media recently to share with fans he has alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that triggers bald spots.

Over the weekend on Twitter, Carl Guevarra posted several photos of him having a bald patch being injected with steroids.

He wrote, "ALOPECIA AREATA is an autoimmune condition where my immune system attacks my own hair follicles. Several factors affect it and there is no known cure apart from anti-inflammatory modulators through steroids. I'm posting this to raise awareness & remove the stigma around it."

In a separate tweet, Carl said, "My hair is a part of who I am but it does not define my worth..."

He went on to urge more understanding for those going through the same.

"More than the physical effect, the mental exhaustion and psychological trauma greatly affects patients with this condition. For we do not know when it will appear or go away. So please be kind to those who are going through it."

Carl then shared more photos of him highlighting his bald patches.

He said, "Not only are injections painful, the overall treatment (creams, topical meds, diet requirements) are hella expensive. So with that, prayers and kindness will be very much appreciated."

Despite the situation, Carl is optimistic.

He said, "I will let you know guys once im fully healed. But regardless, life goes on, I’m going to keep doing what God has called me to do. If you have alopecia areata, I see you, I feel you, you’re not alone, and we hope together for healing!"
