P58-M worth of shabu seized in Imus, Cavite

More than P50 million worth of shabu was seized in a joint buy-bust operation in Imus, Cavite on Saturday (June 19).

The buy-bust operation was launched by the Manila Police District (MPD) Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Cavite Provincial Police Office and Imus Municipal Police Station.

About 8,533 kilograms of shabu worth P58,024,000 were seized in the buy-bust operation.

Five suspects were arrested during the buy-bust operation for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act or Republic Act No. 9165, according to MPD chief Police Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco.

The five suspects were identified as Tamano M. Daud, 41; Ismael G. Daud, 24; Norma B. Maguid, 23; and Omar A. Redia, 42. They were presented to Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso at the Manila City Hall on Monday.

Francisco said the suspects will also be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act No. 10591.

“It was revealed that the suspects were members of the Tamano Drug Group distributing illegal drugs in Metro Manila, Quezon City and Rizal Province linked to Montessir Sabal,” Francisco said.

Retrieved from the suspects were 13 pieces of transparent plastic sachets with white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, several pieces of colored plastics with white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, 10 pieces of P1,000 bills used as buy bust money, and 40 pieces of P1,000 bills boodle money.

Several firearms were also recovered from the suspects -- 1 Glock 17 9mm pistol, 1 Kosnor London Chrome cal 45 pistol, and several magazines and ammunition of different caliber.
