Bocaue Municipal Jail personnel, PDLs 100% fully COVID-19 vaccinated

A total of 148 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) and 19 jail personnel of the Bocaue Municipal Jail are now fully inoculated with the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccine, the first jail facility to achieve the distinction in the country, the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) on Monday, June 21.

BJMP chief Director Allan Iral said two of the PDLs are senior citizens while 10 other inmates have underlying medical conditions.

“We would like to reiterate our call to our local chief executives to also consider their constituencies behind bars in their vaccination efforts like what Bocaue Mayor Jose Santiago did”, said Iral.

Iral stressed that “our target is to ensure that those who will be released from our jails are also protected’’ from the COVID-19 virus.

The BJMP chief noted that the activity supports the national government's call to action, to further intensify COVID-19 vaccination in the country, especially in areas that are prone to virus transmission including the jails

Iral commended Bocaue Municipal Jail warden Jail Chief Inspector Manolet Datan and his personnel for their efforts to ensure the full vaccination of both PDL and personnel in the municipality’s jail.

Through its campaign, dubbed "Magkaisa Para sa Bakuna Laban sa Pandemya" the BJMP aims to vaccinate all its personnel and PDL under its care nationwide.

On June 15, the BJMP National Headquarters led the mass vaccination of personnel from Regions 3, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.

Currently, 10,459 BJMP personnel and 1,766 PDL who are mostly senior citizens and with comorbidities were already vaccinated. (Chito A. Chavez)
