'Teknolohiyang gubat': State-of-the-art Technovation Hub to be launched in July

Good news to all entrepreneurs venturing on furniture, woodcraft, housing and bamboo musical instruments production!

The Department of Science and Technology-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) has announced the launch of its Technovation Hub on July 5.

“The DOST-FPRDI is excited to announce the opening of its Technovation Hub this July!,” the DOST-FPRDI said in a Facebook post.

The Institute said Technovation Hub features three of its newest facilities: the Forest Products Innovation and Training Center, the Bamboo Musical Instruments (BMI) Processing Center, and the Forest Products Technology Business Incubator (TBI).

“It houses state-of-the-art facilities that can be accessed by local businesses, and offers technical and marketing support to wood and non-wood forest-based industries,” it said.

In a separate Facebook post, the DOST-FPRDI said the agency’s desire to help the local creative industry gave birth to the BMI Processing Center.

The center is part of the BMI Innovation Research and Development Program, which uses science to improve the processing, durability, aesthetics and sound quality of select BMIs, it said.

Through the BMI Processing Center, current BMI producers and emerging business ventures can adopt FPRDI-developed technologies on instrument-making.

The Institute cited the importance of bamboo musical instruments, saying that it is “more than a source of livelihood” and it serves as “vessels of our national identity.”

It noted that the hub inauguration is part of its week-long anniversary Celebration from July 5-9.
