Since the original marker that listed the 32 names of the past Archbishops of Manila is now full, the Manila Cathedral has put up a new marker containing the name of Archbishop-elect Jose F. Cardinal Advincula.

"He is now part of the great history of pastors who used to hold the title Metropolitan of the Philippines. You can see this marker at the left wall of the Cathedral narthex," the Manila Cathedral said in a Facebook post Saturday, June 19.

In April, the Cathedral announced that the marker containing the list of the past archbishops was brought for refurbishment to Angel Zamora and Sons, the company who made and installed it in 1958.

"They commented that this solid and heavy brass craftsmanship is now very rare," it said.

"They will also attach a new plate that would contain the succeeding list of the next archbishops beginning with our Archbishop-elect Jose Cardinal Advincula," added the Cathedral.

Aside from the marker, the Cathedral also posted the picture of the cathedra or the Archbishop's chair which has the coat of arms of Advincula.

"The cathedra or the Archbishop’s 'chair' is a sign of his teaching office and pastoral authority in the local church. The present cathedra, installed during the postwar reconstruction in 1958, is made of the choicest Italian marbles and was designed and crafted in Rome through the Istituto Internazionale d’Arte Liturgica. Recently, the original Mexican onyx was revealed and restored," it said.

"The new carving of the coat of arms of Cardinal Jose Advincula was imposed on top of white Indian marble," the Manila Cathedral added.

Advincula will be formally installed as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on June 24.
