'Habagat' to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over parts of Luzon

The southwest monsoon or "habagat" will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, June 20.

Due to the prevalence of the habagat, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, as well as Occidental Mindoro and Palawan.

PAGASA advised the public to stay vigilant against flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned against possible flash floods or landslides that may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, moderate to rough sea conditions will likely prevail over the coasts of northern and Central Luzon, while slight to moderate conditions may prevail over the seas across the rest of the country.

While no gale warning is in effect, PAGASA still advised seafarers and fisherfolk to remain alert during severe thunderstorms as sea conditions may become rough.
