'Habagat' may bring rains over some western Luzon areas -- PAGASA

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may continue to affect parts of the western section of Luzon due to the prevalence of the southwest monsoon or "habagat," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday afternoon, June 20.
In the next 24 hours, rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
PAGASA advised those in these areas to remain alert against possible flash floods or landslides due to occasional moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Moreover, weather specialist Chris Perez said a low pressure area (LPA) has been monitored at 1,285 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon at around 3 p.m.
He said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression, as of Sunday.
It has no direct effect over any part of the country but we will continue to monitor this weather disturbance, Perez said.
