DOST still recommending continued use of face shields
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is still recommending the continued use of face shields in public spaces to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said they adopted the position of DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) Executive Director Dr. Jaime C. Montoya that the wearing of face shields should continue
"Our Dr. Montoya is the one who advises us at DOST. He still recommends its use as of now,” he said in a Viber message.
The DOST sits as a member of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
DOST’s vaccine expert panel Dr. Nina Gloriani said the public should be more patient and should strictly follow minimum public health standards set by the government.
She said the policy requiring the public to wear face shields should stay.
“Maghintay na lang po tayo ng konti pa, magbakuna tayo (Let’s just wait a little longer, let’s get vaccinated),” she said in a radio interview on Saturday, June 19.
Infectious disease experts had recommended the continued mandatory use of face shields in the country to prevent the spread of highly transmissible variants of COVID-19.
