Seven passengers were rescued from a motorbanca that caught fire in the waters off Balabac, Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Saturday, June 19.
The PCG, citing the report from the boat captain, said one of the seven passengers noticed that the fuel line was accidentally detached from the motorbanca while traveling off Sitio Tamban, Balabac, Palawan on Wednesday, June 16.

The boat captain said this led to the boat catching fire and eventually caused engine trouble.
A concerned resident, identified as Rhea Rodriguez, immediately reported to the Coast Guard Station Balabac the incident.
Personnel of the PCG District Station Balabac immediately deployed a search and rescue team to locate and ensure the safe return of the seven passengers.
The rescued passengers were identified as Al Mohamad Amen, Kimpee Nuhi, Jainal Saidil, Rajie Yashir h Rashid, Alquameer Jainudin, Nuroden Macaneral, and Khadzril Ali.


Meanwhile, their motorbanca was also towed to Poblacion IV, Balabac Pier.
No passengers were reported injured during the incident.
