OHEB says stellar rookie season in MPL not possible without guidance of Blacklist, Tier One

Kiel "OHEB" Soriano couldn't be more grateful to Blacklist International and the whole Tier One Entertainment organization for molding him into a championship-caliber player right in his first season in the MPL Philippines.

A former amateur standout from Amihan Cosmic, the 16-year-old Oheb admitted that "parang bata pa 'ko maglaro" (I play like a child) during his early days in the squad in black.

But through the guidance of coach Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza, his veteran teammates as well as the organization, Oheb grew into a sensational player on the gold lane and emerged as a crucial cog in Blacklist's title run in MPL-PH Season 7.

"Sobrang saya. Masaya na parang naramdaman ko na may napatunayan na 'ko kahit na rookie pa lang ako sa MPL (I'm very happy. I felt that I've already proven something even though I'm just a rookie in the MPL)," he said during the post-MPL championship interview.

The young pride of Tarlac showed his quick progression in the team, seizing the top four spot in the kill-death-assist (KDA) ratio category at 5.12 in the regular season with his go-to heroes Harith and Alice.

There was even a time early in the regular season that Oheb's Harith was almost unkillable.

Come the playoffs, the super rookie sustained his consistent play with the Time Traveler while displaying his versatility when needed as he came up with a solid performance on Beatrix (5-0-8 KDA) in Game 1 of Blacklist's upper bracket finals faceoff against Aura PH.

Oheb played Harith brilliantly in the closing three games of the grand finals to help Blacklist pull off a thrilling comeback from a 3-1 deficit against Execration and eventually win the crown.

"'Yung mga kasama ko nag-guide sa'kin para marating ko kung nasaan man ako ngayon. 'Yung mga nasa backend, lahat sila tinulungan nila ako (My team guided me to where I'm right now and the ones in the backend also helped me)," said the soft-spoken player.

"Proud ako sa kanila at sa sarili ko. Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanilang lahat (I'm proud of them as well as myself. I'm just grateful to all of them)."
