Unknown to some people, the Archbishop-elect of Manila Jose Cardinal Advincula came from a family of priests.

In a Facebook post, the Manila Cathedral revealed that two of the Cardinal's brothers are priests -- his older brother, the late Monsignor Benjamin Advincula and younger brother, Father Neil Peter Advincula who is still serving as parish priest in Capiz.
Other priests in his family include his cousin Fr. Antonio Fuerte Arinquin, his mother’s brother Monsignor Siforiano Fuerte, and his mother’s cousin Msgr. Edmundo Fuerte.
Born on March 30, 1952 in Dumalag, Capiz to Jose Firmalino Advincula and Carmen Falsis Fuerte, Jose Fuerte Cardinal Advincula is the fourth of twelve children – six boys and six girls.
After graduating from Dumalag Elementary School in 1964, Advincula entered St. Pius X Seminary in Roxas City, Capiz where he finished secondary education in 1968 and philosophy in 1972.
In an interview released by the Archdiocese of Capiz, Advincula revealed that it was Cardinal Jaime Sin, at that time rector of St. Pius X Seminary in Roxas City, Capiz, who admitted him as a seminarian in 1964 and taught their class Latin.
He also revealed that it was Sin who persuaded the late Archbishop Antonio Frondosa to send him for further studies in Rome.
Advincula then went on to the University of Santo Tomas Central Seminary in Manila where he obtained his Bachelor in Sacred Theology in 1975.
To further equip himself for his priestly ministry, then Fr. Jose took up Guidance and Counseling in De La Salle University, Manila in 1983.
Three years later, he was sent to the University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome where he earned his Licentiate in Canon Law which helped him in his work as seminary formator and later on as a bishop.
Cardinal Advincula will be formally as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on June 24.
