Cop from Tagum City dies of COVID-19

A policeman assigned in Tagum City died of health complications due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) amid the continuous rise of infection in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The death of a cops with a rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant came with a report of additional 167 new infections in the PNP based on the report of the PNP Health Service.

As of June 2, 2021, the PNP posted a total of 24,253 confirmed cases with 1,650 active cases. Meanwhile, 236 recoveries were noted bringing the total number of recovered cases to 22,536.

Records revealed that the policeman, the 67th fatality in the PN, is 47 years old who tested positive on May 27. He was then admitted to a local hospital.

The following day, his condition worsens and was eventually placed under intubation. He died on May 31.

"My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the police personnel and assures them to receive benefits and financial assistance," said PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar.

"In these trying times as we are battling the unseen enemy, we are unwavering in our desire to attend to the financial and basic needs of our PNP personnel and their families who are affected also with this pandemic," he added.
