Coast Guard evacuates stranded residents as flooding hits Maasin City
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) evacuated stranded residents in Maasin City in Southern Leyte due to massive flooding caused by tropical storm “Dante” on Tuesday, June 1.


The PCG said at least 40 stranded residents in Barangay Basak and Combado, Maasin City were evacuated to safer grounds during the heavy downpour and rising floodwaters.
The residents were brought to an evacuation center in Barangay Basak Gymnasium to ensure their safety during the onslaught of tropical storm “Dante.”

Meanwhile, the PCG recorded a total of 3,419 passengers were stranded in Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Southern Tagalog, Northeastern Mindanao, and Bicol regions as of 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical storm “Dante” is poised to make its third landfall over the vicinity of Romblon on Wednesday.
