CAVITEX completes P78M road maintenance

Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), concessionaire of Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), along with Joint Venture (JV) partner, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), have completed a P78 million heavy maintenance project on critical portions of the expressway.

Starting this February, they rehabilitated and repaired road surface distresses, such as pavement fractures, distortions, and disintegration, along Longos, Bacoor Entry and Exit to CAVITEX, and the 1-km portion of the mainline carriageway of Wawa Bridge to Zapote Interchange (Cavite and Manila-Bound).
As a result, “We now have safer carriageways and smoother roads," according to CIC President and General Manager, Roberto V. Bontia.
"Despite challenges brought about by the pandemic, we continue to invest on projects that ensures the safety and convenience of our toll road users,“ he added.
“PRA and CIC are fully committed in providing a safe and high-quality expressway for our motorists," noted PRA General Manager and CEO, Atty. Janilo E. Rubiato.
"We ensure that they get what they pay for in terms of safety, ease and convenience in travelling through CAVITEX. Hence, we considered the high maintenance project a must to live up to that commitment," he explained.
Last December, CIC and PRA completed road enhancements project for Segment 1 (R1 Expressway) which covers road widening for additional lanes in Paranaque, Wawa, and Las Pinas bridges from three lanes to four lanes.
The CIC is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).
Cavitex is part of a road network being developed by MPTC that will soon connect to the 7.7-kilometer C5 Link Expressway and the 45-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
PRA, through its subsidiary PEA Tollways Corp. (PEATC), performs the operation and maintenance of both the R-1 Expressway and R-1 Expressway Extension which currently makes up the CAVITEX.
Aside from the Cavitex and CALAX, MPTC’s portfolio includes the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
