PH to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms

The whole country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, June 19.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon or "habagat" is only affecting the extreme portion of northern Luzon.

He said that the ridge of high pressure area, which is the opposite of the low pressure area, will bring "fair" weather conditions over most parts of the country but some areas may experience isolated afternoon or evening rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Aurelio also noted that PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area or tropical cyclone inside or near the country's area of responsibility, as of Saturday.

Based on its extended weather outlook for key areas from June 20 to 23, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 32-33 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 36-37℃ in Tuguegarao City, 24-25℃ in Baguio City, 31-32℃ in Tagaytay City, 31-32℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 32-33℃ in Metro Cebu, 32-33℃ in Metro Davao, and 34℃ in Zamboanga City.

Moreover, no gale warning has been raised in any part of the country on Saturday morning.

Moderate to rough sea conditions will likely prevail over the coasts of extreme northern Luzon, while slight to moderate conditions may prevail over the seas across the rest of the country.

While no gale warning is in place, PAGASA still advised seafarers and fisherfolk using small boats to remain alert during severe thunderstorms as sea conditions may become rough.
